Do not touch them with a barge pole. Mark, the owner, sold me an astra 1.8v petrol sri just before Christmas. Was told that it had a throttle hunting issue but drives ok. In my haste i took it. That very evening the car kept stalling at every junction and roundabout. I tried to take it back the first available opportunity after the holidays. Mark pretended not to recognise me at first. I requested a refund as the vehicle was purchased less than 30 days ago. He wasn't for giving a refund, kept harping on about the car being a trade in to clear and what you see is what you get. Instead he pointed me in the direction of the mechanic he uses for repairs and makes a token gesture to pay for the parts needed to resolve the issue. As a refund was out of the question, my choices were limited. I took the car to PLA in whitehill. Phil the owner had a look at it, did diagnostic checks etc and replaced the lambda sensor. I got the car the next day and although Mark paid for the part, I had to pay 125 labour costs. While he was test driving the car, Phil had mentioned that the clutch was starting to go. So I put the car back in for a new clutch. Paid for labour and materials myself (460) So thinking that was the end of it. I took it in the chin. It drove ok for about a day then started stalling again. As ive spent all i can afford on the clutch job, and have taken too much time off work, i just adapted to it by bump starting the car on a higher gear while in motion to stop it from stalling. Less than a week later the car broke down on me. Car would not drive when in gear. Phoned RAC, they took the car up to PLA Garage as thinking new clutch was under guarantee. Turns out that it was the gear differentials knackered. Whole gearbox cracked and leaking fluid. Cost to fix it 800. I wasn't for spending any more money on this car. I contacted Mark about this looking for some sort of warranty at least considering that the car was still less than 30 days from purchase and he'd denied me a refund earlier. I read consumer law says i am entitled to a full refund if the vehicle was not fit for purpose. At first didn't acknowledge who I was then basically washed his hands of the whole thing. He went on about passing me on the motorway days before the car broke down, remarking how well it was driving and it must've been the way I drove the car that caused the gearbox to crack. So on top of not wanting to take any responsibility he insults me as well. I never wanted to keep the car since I bought the thing and now I've had to scrap it. Word of warning ladies and gentlemen. Mark is a wee fly man. Do not buy from him unless you want screwed out of money. I pray that Karma gives him what he's due
