I was in hospital recently and I have had excellent care from doctor, district nurses, receptionists since I came home. Doctor Black has been great with me and keeping me up to date on my results. Receptionist who was on duty 14th Sept at 8-00am (not sure of her name) was very pleasant, understanding, and very helpful. Also duty nurse. Maybe Iliene her name but not sure. I know lots of people complain about tIme they've to wait on phone to get through and I must admit there's been times when I've moaned myself. However it is a very busy practice and we are lucky to have this at all. As far as I'm concerned I have always had great care from this practice.
staff at reception are friendly and very discreet considering the limitations there is . the health visitor always makes time for you even when your child dose not necessarily require a health visitor no more . the doctors always listen and try and help the best they can.
Doesn't matter how many times a phone, I never ever look forward to phoning this practice. Its not the doctors, doctors are brilliant, it's the reception staff. I always phone with a nice friendly manner, but what you get back from them is a joke, and a bit unprofessional to be fairly honest. As you can see am not the only person who feels this way. It's a hit or a miss whether you get someone who actually sounds like they like their job. They can't say I was aggressive or abrupt with them, so they have no right to be unpleasant with me or any of the other patients, and they are, so they wonder why patients get annoyed. They say they don't take inappropriate behaviour from the patients towards their staff, but what about the way they speak to patients, its not right, and something has to be done about it now with this practice. There is only one lassie in that practice, and it's the young lassie, she's so pleasant, a think she could give them a lessons or 2 on great customer service, and a professional telephone manner. If you don't like your job, working in a GP practice isn't where you should be working. Working in a GP practice is only hard if you make it hard, and if you can't be bothered to approach patients with compassion and professionalism, then this isn't a role for you. I loved my time working within the GP services, and A&E, and yes you do get alot of pressure at times, but that's the joys of this kind of job, its demanding but rewarding as well. Of course you don't take abuse, no one should at their work, and i am glad they have this approach for all their staff, but that doesnt mean you can treat patients like dirt when you can't be bothered to give the right information or you can't be bothered to do the job. I know what goes behind the scenes of a GP surgery, so am sorry, a cant be bothered with they have a heavy workload, think of a nurse working in a busy A&E working 12 hours, sometimes don't get away, and don't get a meal throughout their shift, now that's hard work. I worked in an Edinburgh GP practice, and you take the good with the bad, its the way things are in the health service, your going to get patients that get upset and annoyed, but at the end of the day, it shouldn't be taken personally, the real reason patients are upset is because they are ill, and on many occasions I've not had a great service from this practice. So please before you start saying they have a hard job, it's only hard if they make it that way....On the happier note, the new triage system is really good, so that's great so well done with that, and the doctors/Nurses, midwives, and health visitor are amazing, for me that's the only thing keeping me there. It's always unpleasant though speaking to the reception staff!
Ive lived in Blackburn all my life so ive seen staff & doctors come & go.The practise staff are brilliant & try their hardest to get you the help you need. It only has 1 full time Doctor & 2 part-time doctors so i think the triage system works better. The Front desk staff are great but can only do as much as they can to help. We are lucky to still have a surgery & i for 1 would like to say a huge Thank you to All staff, you do a great job.
I am born and brought up in Blackburn and there has been no time that the reception staff or doctors have failed me. They are always so helpful and when a family member has been ill they do all they can to make sure all will be OK. I think the triage set up is really good as you can still get medical treatment for something that frees the doctor from more urgent cases. If the staff member is running late you always get an apology, however, like I say, they are taking the time with a patient which means they are doing a good job. They do an excellent job in my opinion and a difficult one at that!!!! Next time you go in to the surgery just let them know the community appreciate what they do xxx
